I plugged in the module to the laptop and she booted up and held a software flash, which is typically a good sign that the unit is functional. During my scavenging, I noticed that the spring mount centers are 3" wider on the Blazer ZR2 rear end than the stock '55 spring mount centers

Chevelle Tech Bench Racing What's it worth? Need some pointers, measurements, general info about this swap. I have searched the net and only came up with people selling trucks with subframes Subframe is from a Camaro I have to check Sasquatch, Trucking magazine just did an article on this about a month ago.

If I can dig my copy up I'll tell you exact issue. I found it pretty amusing that all the classic truck mags tell you not to sub frame a truck because they have so many advertisers of Must. Trucking is geared to newer trucks, hence no Heidts, Fatman, etc. Truck is pro street in the rear and rides and drives unbelievably nice.

Unfortunately he bought the truck as an unfinished project and the clip was done about 20 yrs ago so I can't tell you a lot about the actual install. Tom Mobley's Garage 70 Chevelle. I used the front springs, anti-roll bar, steering box and brakes from a 79 WS-6 TA, guess what my truck drives like? My front suspension is at stock ride height but the truck is very low due to way the stub is spliced on. If you don't want a radically lowered truck you can sort of set the truck frame rails on top of the Camaro rails after trimming the you-know-what out of them.

Had to fall back and regroup here. Cut the frame horns off at the front of the box and plated the ends, welded a little shelf on there and moved the core support mounts to the front of the core support, buzzed everything off the back of it. Barely clears the box but no big deal. I used an early Toronado steering shaft to reach out to the box from the firewall where I bobbed off the stock column. Probably easier to use a later model column but I wanted to retain the stock column and wheel.

Notched the frame in back, cut all the truck rear spring mount stuff off and made mounts for '76 Nova type springs. Tried to use Camaro leafs but they wouldn't hold up the truck.

Nova's have an extra leaf. My truck is so low the 3rd member broke the wood in the bed. Gonna have to re-do that part. It's ugly as sin itself, and that's pretty ugly. Tom Mobley is offline. Thanks for the info guys I will see if I can track one down Tom - Check your mail! First, check out http: Then, here are a couple others that deal with that swap.

If you have more questions, try posting them one the Stovebolt page, lots of good people there also. Hope that Helps, Bill C.
