    I didn't even have it loaded down at the time apart from what came with the factory conversion.     First and foremost it needs to be able to handle what I put in it, but a v6 is still a v6 and I dont see how my skinny ass and my belongings could be too much. I havent calculated weight or anything so any insight on me being fine or underestimating is appreciated.

    As of now, v6 wins. I was under the assumption that the V6 would be a clear winner, but my google research is showing at maximum a 1mpg difference vs the v8.

    Some sites even list them as having the same. I could see a maxed out v6 being an issue, but again, only if I manage to load the van that much. I was using models to compare models just to be constant in my research.

    I have no plans on towing anything, but if i put this work into a van I do intend to have it for a while, so knowing I have the ability to tow would be great, but as of now I just dont see it being necessary.

    If you are considering towing at all stick with a V8 over a 6. I can only speak to my personal experience, but here's the deal with me, I've had two Es. The first was a 4. Now, I drove the 4. This thing struggled, and I mean struggled. It was absolutely gutless coming up inclines. I didn't even have it loaded down at the time apart from what came with the factory conversion. They put these engines in huge buses and box trucks and RVs with regularity so the towing is still very doable considering the raw power.

    Like I said, for the additional power between these two engines and negligible sacrifice of MPG, the 5. With that said, I have not personally driven a 4. Mountains are really where that power starts to matter. Almost everyone on here will tell you that a diesel will be your best bet for towing, and that the E provides more towing capacity which is absolutely true, but you need to decide what your weight perimeters will be with towing, and where your budget diesels are more expensive to buy, more expensive to maintain is to find a happy medium.
